A full or grandparented registrant who wishes to renew his or her registration must complete 25 hours continuing education every two years.
Hours in excess of those required in a two-year cycle cannot be carried forward to a subsequent cycle.
Qualified programs:
It is each registrant’s responsibility to evaluate the qualification of lecturers who must have minimum of 7 years’ experience or a university degree plus 3 years’ experience in the subject matter of the courses or credentials recognized by College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of B.C. The various types of continuing education activities that are eligible for credit are described below:
(a) TCM PRACTICE: Continuing education activities that relate to the registrant’s practice of traditional Chinese medicine, in any of the five scope of practice areas (clinical therapy, health promotion, education, administration and research).
(b) PRACTICE MANAGEMENT: Relates to the administration or management of the registrant’s practice of traditional Chinese medicine.
(c) PERSONAL ENHANCEMENT: Personal growth programs that enhance personal health and well-being and contribute to a healthy traditional Chinese medicine work environment.
1. Courses: Courses may be offered by a variety of providers, in a variety of formats.
2. Conferences: Single or multi-day programs, including provincial, national, international or interdisciplinary conferences or their equivalent.
Hour Equivalents:
Only actual hours of lecture and instruction may be reported. In the event that a full-day continuing education program continues into the evening hours, a maximum of 10 hours credit per 24 hour period may be claimed.
Please remember to count only the lecture/instruction hours and exclude all breaks and rest periods in all programs.
Records:
It is each registrant’s responsibility to maintain a continuing education file which should contain details of programs attended, such as receipts, certificates, brochures, course descriptions and/or handouts and notes. On occasion, a registrant may be asked to provide these records to the College.
Registrants will report their continuing education hours at the time of registration renewal.
